The game park is part of a lava plain that includes varied habitats, from thorn scrub, red dirt and dried river beds, to broken volcanic rock, steep hills and rocky outcrops.
This region of Kenya is home to the uncommon srevy's zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephants and crocodiles are guaranteed sightings and lions, hippos and giraffes are also found in the reserve.
The bird watching is excellent, with over 365 species, including numerous varieties of weaver birds and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a special feature here. The Samburu area is also home to interesting people with a rich heritage, making for a colourful cultural experience.

Day 4: Samburu - Drive to Mount Kenya Safari Club
This morning we drive to the magnificent Mount Kenya Safari Club nestled in the foothills of snow-capped Mount Kenya. Its sprawling colonial design was influenced by the late actor William Holden, who founded the Club in 1959 with two of his friends.
His love for Africa led him to make Kenya his second home for over twenty-five years. The club has over the years attracted legions of internationally renowned members and guests from the world of politics, film, and theatre.
For those who wish to spend time relaxing at the Club, there are many recreational activities available: horseback riding, golf, croquet, a putting green, a bowling green, table tennis, swimming, a beauty salon, an animal orphanage and much more. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Mount Kenya Safari Club - Transfer to Nanyuki Airstrip - Fly to Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast, we transfer to Nanyuki airstrip for your scenic flight over the spectacular Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara Game Reserve, offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago.
The most famous wildlife area in Kenya, the Maasai Mara National Reserve, is known not only for the annual great migration, but also for year-round exceptional and abundant wildlife. Over 100 mammal species are found here, including the Big Five. Game viewing here is second to none. Mara is home to herds of wildebeest, zebra and other antelope as well as giraffe and buffalo. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Explore Masai Mara Game Reserve
Your day begins with an early morning 'Spice' game drive taking you into the Mara plains when the animals are most active. On the other hand, you may choose to add a hot air balloon safari - the ultimate safari experience! You leave camp before dawn - the sky is clear; the air is brisk and the conditions are perfect. As the sun rises over the Mara plains your balloon lifts off, a bright splash of colour rising into the blue. Watch as a stunning panorama unfolds below you and the balloon's basket becomes your lookout post for a bird's-eye view of the beauty of Africa.
Float silently just a few hundred feet above herds of wild animals. Gazelle and Impala watch curiously with their tails flagging - a warning to others that you are approaching. A pride of Lions stalks an unsuspecting herd of Wildebeest. Giraffes poke their heads out of the forest where they have been nibbling tender leaves. The tranquillity of the experience is interrupted only the occasional 'whoosh' of the air heaters. Finally, you gently touch down, with an appetite sharpened by the fresh air, all ready for a delicious champagne breakfast in the middle of the bush.
After a relaxing repast, continue honing your game-spotting skills on a game drive as you make your way back to the camp/ lodge. After lunch and some time to relax, enjoy a second 'Spice' game drive this afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
